622 Mbit ATM Interface with E1/T1
Multiplexer/Demultiplexer Chipset The NAMC-STM1/4 boards have a multiplexer/demultiplexer chipset. The boards are ideal interfaces between frame oriented STM-1/4 SDH based networks and classic TDM standards (E1/T1). The chipset on the NAMC-STM-1 includes 84 T1/J1 or 63 E1 framer, the chipset on the NAMC-STM-4 has 4x84 T1/J1 or 4x63 E1 framer. Each framer has its individual Rx/Tx, CLK, and SYNC signals. For T1 the framing standards SF, SLC-96, and ESF are supported. For E1 G.704 and G.706 (CRC-4 multiframe) are supported. The E1/T1 framer is connected with the onboard time slot interchanger (TSI). The TSI and the TDM-to-I-TDM bridge are implemented in a Lattice FPGA. The TSI allows flexible routing and multi-casting of 64 kps timeslots between the different E1/T1 streams. In addition to the I-TDM interface of the NAMC-STM-4, the TSI offers an optional 32 MHz clocked H.110-like TDM backplane interface. The NAMC-STM1/4 are made for telecom applications dealing with SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy), such as SS7, ISDN or 3G/3.5G mobile applications in optical OC-3/STM-1 or OC-12/STM-4 and SONET environments.
