Wide Area 155 Mbit ATM Connectivity
Designed especially for high-availability, high-bandwidth
access applications, the Interphase iSPAN® 4576 PMC ATM Over OC-3/STM-1
Interface Card provides cost-effective, reliable ATM connectivity at
155 Mbps. The 4576 modular PMC technology makes this controller ideal for
use in CompactPCI®, proprietary, and VME-based communications systems.
The 4576 controller meets the needs of a variety of applications,
including broadband access via DSL or cable technologies, wireless
access, and other applications that require the Quality of Service (QoS)
guarantees provided by ATM. The iSPAN 4576 offers connectivity to existing LANs via LAN emulation
(compliant for ATM forum), RFC 1577 (classical IP over ATM),
and RFC 1483 (multiprotocol encapsulation).
The ATM service classes Available Bit Rate (ABR),
Constant Bit Rate (CBR), and Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR) are
supported.
The configuration software CellView
is included as well as driver support for VxWorks, Solaris, and Linux.
Typical applications for the iSPAN 4576 are Ethernet
access, eCommerce systems, and applications which require Quality-of-Service (QoS)
guarantee like e.g. video conferencing and medical image processing.
It is proved that the 4576 out-performs any other passive OC-3/STM-1
