“The MVME3100 continues
Emerson Network Power’s history of VMEbus innovation, our long-term commitment to
the technology and our charter to empower customers to compete
effectively, be more cost-efficient and maximize the value of their
investment in technology,” said Dave Barker, product manager
for Emerson Network Power’s Embedded Communications Computing Group.
“Our newest single-board computer is fully
interoperable with its higher performance family member, the
MVME6100, and enables system integrators to build a hardware and
software environment based on a VMEbus Two-edge Source Synchronous
Transfer (2eSST) interconnect. The functionality and cost point of
this product also makes it the ideal migration choice for 68K based
solutions.” |

The new Board expands 2eSST
Emerson Network Power's Offerings for Cost Sensitive Applications, Simplifies
Peripheral Integration
Emerson Network Power launched the MVME3100, a VMEbus single-board
computer that optimizes performance, flexibility and price. This new
addition to Emerson Network Power’s VMEbus product line addresses a wide range of
applications including industrial control, test & measurement as well as
image processing. The MVME3100 delivers a reasonable price/performance
advantage compared to competitive products.
The MVME3100 is built around the MPC8540
system-on-chip (SoC) processor, which allows the MVME3100 to offer
lifecycle, power/thermal, and reliability advantages not typically found
in industrial PCs. The MPC8540 integrates the processor, memory
controller, PCI-X controller and dual GbE interfaces into a single,
low-power (< 7W) device. Utilizing the 2eSST VMEbus protocol interface,
the MVME3100 is capable of transferring data across the VMEbus at 320
MB/sec. The combination of the 2eSST VMEbus, GbE, USB 2.0 and SATA
interfaces, along with dual PMC-X sites, enables customers to
cost-effectively build systems with real-world interfaces, while
strategically leveraging their existing investments in VMEbus
infrastructure and longer-lifecycle products.
Availabilty
The MVME3100 is anticipated to enter customer beta testing in 2Q2005,
with availability in fully RoHS-compliant production scheduled for
September 2005.
