4 Channel isolated RS232/RS422/RS485 QMC Module

The QMC module provides four serial interfaces with individually programmable RS232, RS422, or RS485 (full- and half-duplex) interfaces. Each of the four channels is isolated from the system and against each other by digital isolators and integrated DC/DC converters. This galvanic isolation protects against potential differences, signal interference, and voltage spikes, ensuring reliable and robust data transmission, especially in industrial environments, over long cable distances, or in systems with different supply potentials. In addition, each channel offers programmable slew-rate control and termination.

The RS232 ports provide the signals RxD, TxD, and GND. The RS422 ports support RxD+/-, TxD+/-, and GND signals. RS422 channels can operate in 4-wire full duplex mode, and RS485 channels can operate either in 4-wire full duplex or 2-wire half duplex mode.

Each channel includes 256 byte transmit and receive FIFOs to significantly reduce the overhead required for supplying and receiving data to and from the transmitters and receivers. The FIFO trigger levels are programmable and the baud rates are individually programmable up to 1 Mbit/s for RS232 and up to 20 Mbit/s for RS422/485 channels.
